City Employe Missing

Sheriff’s Department detectives and Ann Arbor police are searching for a city employe who disappeared over the weekend while carrying over $250 in cash with him.

Leroy W. Johnson, 51, of 57 N. Lamay, Ypsilanti Township, was last seen when he left work at the end of the day Friday. He has been employed as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Ann Arbor for the past seven years.

Sheriff’s Detective Chester A. Wilson said Johnson has a reputation for reliability and it possible he was abducted. City police said they found Johnson’s car parked near the N. Main-E. Ann intersection yesterday.

The Ypsilanti Township man was carrying $250 in cash in his billfold when he was last seen, Wilson said. The missing man 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs founds, has thinning brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen he was wearing a brown jacket, a dark blue shirt, faded gray work pants, black shoes and a black cap with red trim.

Investigating officers have asked persons who may have seen Johnson Friday night or after that time to contact the Ann Arbor Police Department’s Detecive Division, 664-4112, or the Sheriff’s Department, 662-2505.
