Businessman Calvin Wolf Dies At 80
Calvin A. Wolf, long-time Ann Arbor businessman and civic leader, died this morning at his home at 110 S. Revena. He was 80.
Mr. Wolf served as secretary and retail manager of the Mayer-Schairer Co. from 1912 until his retirement in 1955. He was a charter member of the Ann Arbor Kiwanis Club and served as its treasurer for 40 years.
Born in Saline Sept. 5, 1887, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wolf. He married Lucy M. Crittenden Oct. 23, 1907. She died July 7, 1962.
Mr. Wolf was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He also was a member of Golden Rule Lodge 159 F&AM, Zal Gaz Grotto Club Number 34, Elks Lodge 325 and Knights Pythias.
He served on the police commission here for a number of years before the present form of local government was adopted and many commissions were eliminated.
Mr. Wolf is survived by two sons, Ronald C. of Ann Arbor and Lauren C. of Bloomfield Township; two daughters: Miss Eunice M. Wolf and Mrs. Willard (Helen) Curtis, both of Ann Arbor; two sisters: Mrs. Edna Clough of Ypsilanti and Mrs. Luella Gillen of Ann Arbor; and four grandchildren.
