A resolution commending local architect Ralph W. Hammet for his work donated toward restoration of the historical Kempf house was given unanimous City Council support last night.

The resolution notes Hammett is a member of the city’s Historical Commission, served on the City Council, and helped organize the City Planning Commission in 1938.

It noted Hammett has “generously volunteered his services in the community interest to supervise and administer the detailed restoration, reconstruction, refurbishing and rehabilitation of the Kempf house at 312 S. Division . . .”

In another item relating to t r e Historical Commission, council was presented a copy of a resolution adopted by that group urging that the central fire station be preserved, stating it “is one of

the few significant public buildings of historical and architectural significance which remains standing in the central part of the city . . .

It asked the council to designate the fire station as an historic structure for permanent preservation and restoration.
