Dam Proposals Draw Support

The League of Womén Voters of Ann Arbor has announced Lts support for the $3-million bond proposal to repair and renovate Barton, Argo, Geddes and Superior dams and to provide the designated addition and H ed sewers because: 1) The past expenditures for j property acquisition in the 1 ron River Area and the j deiato plans for recreational development in that area were based on the assumption that the impoundments behind Argo II and Geddes dams will be 1 stored and maintained; 2) The major portion of the city water supply is received from Barton Pond; 3) Superior Pond provides some measure of water quality control for the Huron River; ij and (4) The storm sewer projects will improve the protection against storm water damage in the localities specified in the bond proposal. The League believes that Barton, Argo and Geddes ponds provide potential aesthetic and recreational values which would make this a sound investment (of the bond proposal money) for the citizens of Ann Arbor. - Mrs. Charles W.
