Greenhills Expecting Enrollment To Climb

Enrollment at the five-year-old Greenhills School is expected to climb to 255 this school year, an increase of 40 over last year’s enrollment of 215.

The private liberal arts school, located on a 33-acre site at 850 Greenhills Drive (off Earhart Road), houses seventh through 12th grades. The school has been designed specifically for those students planning to continue their education beyond high school.

New tennis courts will greet students and the school plans to field its first tennis team to compete with small independent schools all the way from Detroit to Lansing.

A new outdoor track should be ready by the time track season begins in the spring. Greenhills’ track team has used facilities at Concordia Lutheran Junior College previously. Competiton is also offered in soccer, basketball and cross country.

The first day of school will be a full one Sept. 7. The school day runs from 8:20 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The school’s teaching staff will have 30 members, compared to 28 last year, according to Richard Trim, assistant headmaster. Headmaster since the school's founding is Edward Read.

No major changes in curriculum are planned.
