Age 74, passed away this morning at his home. Mr. Wier was born on July 31, 1899, in Ypsilanti and was the son of Fred and Emma Dupslaff Wier. On July 26, 1920, he married Elsie W. Kopp; she survives. He had served in the National Guard during World War II. Mr. Wier was a member of the local Elk's Lodge No. 325, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Ann Arbor Rifle Association. He was employed for 20 years at the Auto Parts Co., Inc. in Ann Arbor and then operated Wier's Gun Shop at 4011 Jackson Avenue for 27 years before retiring on July 1, 1973. Survivors besides his wife include: two sons, Elwin C. and Raynard G. of Ann arbor; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Marge) Wohlwend of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Edward (Ruth) Strohm of Detroit; and two nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Richard C. Grigereit officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea.
