2 Top Men Resign Positions At Sycor

A second top official has resigned his executive position with Sycor, Inc., a locally-based manufacturer of computer terminals and one of the largest local private employers.

A company spokesman said there is no relation between the two changes.

Theodore Smith, executive vice president since 1973, has resigned effective Dec. 1. The only official above him in the structure is President Samuel Irwin.

The company had not announced and did not indicate today that Senior Vice President Joseph Budris had also resigned recently, until questioned by The News. Budris was next in line in the structure after Smith. A spokesman said no announcement was made because Budris still will be a full-time employee of the company.

No one has been named to replace either of the two men, and it is uncertain whether either of the two positions will be filled, a spokesman said. At this point the duties of the two men have been assumed by three vice presidents.

Smith will remain a director of Sycor, a position he has held since 1974.

A company spokesman said Budris is no longer an officer but still a full time employee working on special projects. The change took place several months ago, the spokesman said. Budris wanted to lessen his day to day responsibilities, according to the company spokesman.

Smith has accepted the job of president of another company but Sycor officials would not reveal the name of that company or where it is located.
