“Somebody’s got to win. Why not me?" asked a very happy William H. Miller of Ann Arbor who won $5,000 in the state lottery instant jackpot game.

The 61-year-old utility worker for Holiday Inn West filed a claim for his winnings Wednesday, almost two years after his wife Marine Miller won $7,000 on a Michigame television show.

Miller brought his winning ticket at Stadium Tavern on Christmas eve. “It didn’t shock me like I thought it would,” he said. “I’m just happy, Miller said the game is all luck. He only buys tickets occasionally.

It will be a couple of weeks before Miller gets the money and he says he really needs it. The money will help pay the hospital bill for one of his 12 grandchildren.
