Age 83, died Thursday, January 6, 1983, at Leelanau Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. He was born March 28, 1899 in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Rudolph P. and Josephine Torgeson Anderson. He was a former Ann Arbor resident. On February 2, 1925, he was married to Alloa Caviness in Battle Creek; she survives. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Fraternity Lodge No. 262 F&AM and the Thursday Noon Luncheon Club. He had been the chairman of the Chemistry Department of the University of Michigan for 18 years prior to retirement. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Leighton and Peter both of New Orleans, Robert of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Committal services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday January 8 at the Washtenong Memorial Park Mausoleum with Fraternity Lodge No. 262 F&AM officiating. Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 9, at 4 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fred B. Maitland officiating.
