Social workers make 'outstanding' awards
Walter W. Hill, director of the Ann Arbor Community Center on North Main Street, has been designated as social worker of the year by the Huron Valley Unit, Michigan chapter, National Association of Social Workers. The chapter describes the annual awards as honoring "outstanding representatives of the profession who combine experience, education, and dedication to help people, to take risks for better human services, and to enlist public support." Also honored at a recent association dinner was Dr. Donald Rucknagel, designated citizen of the year in his capacity as spokesman for Ann Arbor Physicians for Social Responsibility; and Sally and Prof. Robert Vinter, giving special recognition for innovative consulting for local social services agencies, and teaching in the U-M School of Social Work.
