Witting, Maxine H.

Age 73, died on Saturday, August 8, 1987, at the University Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 7, 1914, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of William and Margaret (Murphy) Hoerner. She had been a resident of Ann Arbor since 1930 and was married to Clair C. Witting, on November 14, 1938, and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1976. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1934 and had been a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital from 1934 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of The Friends of the Library and the Washtenaw County Historical Society. Mrs. Witting is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Mark Ulberg, of Ann Arbor, and Dorothy and David Taylor, of Lexington, KY; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Witting, of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Jason and Carrie and Matthew Ulberg; one brother, James Hoerner, of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Sister Marie William, of Terra Haute, Indiana and Dorothy Gorman, of Montreal, Canada. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Father Patrick Cwik officiating. Burial will be made in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel, 5-9 pm today. Memorial tributes may be made to Individualized Home Nursing Care, Inc. c/o Citizens Trust, 100 S.
