Ann Arborite gets award from AAUW
Ann Arbor native Janet Shaw has been awarded a $14,500 fellowship from the American Association of University Women to fund the completion of her doctoral studies at Oregon State University.
Shaw, a 1982 graduate of Huron High School, is one of just 50 women selected from a field of 823 candidates. She is working on a degree in exercise and sports science and is studying exercise intervention programs designed to decrease fracture risk in post-menopausal women. She hopes to complete work on her degree next June.
Shaw earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. She is the daughter of William and Eleanor Shaw of Ann Arbor.
