BRIEFING
BRIGHTON SCHOOLS Art festival honors memory of teacher
District art teachers have organized an art festival this weekend in honor of Janet Davies, the Scranton Middle School teacher who is presumed dead after a plane crash last year in northern Michigan.
The event features displays of art work done this year by Brighton students from the elementary through the high schools. It also features some of the works of Davies, including her puppets.
The fest opens with a student reception tonight and will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the high school.
As part of the event, organizers will collect contributions toward an art scholarship in memory of Davies.
