Witting, Lavone A.
"Shorty"
Lavone A. "Shorty" Witting, 88, of Toledo and Ann Arbor, passed away Tuesday in her Ann Arbor home. She was a registered nurse and was head of pediatrics for the Toledo Health Department for over 30 years. Shorty was a very humble, loving and grateful person. She was a very honest, genuine, compassionate lady with a lot of integrity. Shorty always saw the cup as half full and was a "hands on" person. She enjoyed sports, especially bowling, at which she excelled. To meet Shorty, was to love her and to have a new friend. Perhaps "treasure" is the best way to describe Shorty. As a God-loving person, Shorty was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church. She is also a member of PERI (Public Employees Retirees Inc.) and for 19 years, A. A. Survivors include her niece, Mary (Mark) Ulberg of Woodland Park, CO; great-nieces and nephews, Jason, Carrie and Matthew; nephew, William (Carol) Witting of Seattle, WA; very dear friends and extended family, Dr. Nina McClelland of Ann Arbor, MI, Fern Mervos of Deerfield Beach, FL and Ann Arbor, MI, Robert (Phyllis) Mervos and Gregory Mervos of Lancaster, PA, Mary Jo (Edward) Gibson and Lindsay Gibson of Berryville, VA and Joy (John) Benedek and Matthew Galeza both of North Huntington, PA. Friends are invited to visit from 2-8pm Friday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., (between Douglas and Secor Rd.), where funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday. Rev. David Bracklein, of Zion Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, MI will officiate. Interment in Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to the Surgery Pavilion Project at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.
