Death Of Rev. Dr. Crosby

JNEW York, March 30.- The Rev. Dr. Howard Crosby died at 5:53 last evening of pneumonía, after a short illness. He was born in this city in 1826. and comes from an old revolutionary family. He was graduated from the University of New York in 1844, and in 1859 was appointed professor of Greek in Ruter's college. He held this position until 1863, when he took up the pastorate of the B'ourth Avenue Presbyterian churc'ü, witb which he was associated at the time of his death. Dr. Crosby was chosen mo .- erator of tlie general assembly of thè Presbyterian churcu in 1873. Hisinterr t in public public affairs was shown a year since by the active part he took ia the interest of the People's Municipal leag-e, movement, which aimed at the purifica-' tion of local politics.
