Lansing, Mich., April 34. - The senate ye8terday in committee of the whole agreed to the Miner bill providing for the lection of presidential electors by congressioual districts and passed the bill reealing the special charter of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern railroad and placing it on the same footing as the general law railroads. The senate bill making is misdemeaner to counterfeit or mitate the labels of any trade union passed the house. Laksisg, Mich., April 25.- The bill requiring that the upper berths in sleeping cars shall not ba lowered unless they are actually sold for the uight, was defeated u the senate yesterday, only eight senaiors voting for it. The Richardson bill, greatly increasing the taxes paid by the railroad companies, was favorably reported to the house, and will probably pass. The bill increases railroad taxation over 50 per cent. It requires that the roads shall pay 3 per cent. of their gross earnings, if less than $20,000 per mile, and 4 per cent. when in excess of that sura. Tüe framers of the bill say the state treasury will receive nearly $500,000 additional annually if the bill passes. The committee on state affairs reported in favor of abolishing the office of state game warden of shortening the deer shooting season ten days in each of the two península. Lansing, Mich., April 29.- The senate yesterday killed the bill to establish a state civil service coininission. The house pa3sed the bill providing for a central board of control for the state public school, blind school and for the deaf, and abolishing the separate boards which at present govern these institutions. The measure also gives the governor and the legislatura power to remove the rnembers of this central board for cause.
