The Fisk Tennessee Jubilee Slngers who sing in University hall tomorrow, Saturday, evening for the benefit of Newberry hall have been warmly greeted wherever they have sung. A sample testimonial is cllpped from the Montreal Witness of February 14,1891. The delighted audience in the Windsor last evening persistently encored almost every melody of the Jubilee Singers. There were several of the prime favorites- "Swing low, sweet chariot," "My way is cloudy," "Roll, Jordán, roll," "Little church in the dell," "Old black Joe," et. The features of the evening were the solo singing by Miss Gatewood and Mr. W. H. Thompson. The former has a voice of w ondertul power and sweetness; the latter's deep base is of mense volume; it makes the llghtfl tremble, and resembles the reverberation of a sonorous echo ngainst a mountaln side. Miss Gatswood sang "Jesus, Lover of my soul," and the 'audlence hung ontranced upon the fa'mlliar voiee; in response to an eneroe she sang "The Cows are in the Corn." "The Uttle church In the dell" was a gem. The feellng here was simple, mie and lieautit'ul. "When the Si ars begin to Fall" was perfect In tln unisón of volees and bad a deep tlirill ol the earnest and the solemn in it. Mr. Thompson in the "Scxton," "Old Black Joe" and the "Laughing Song" was superb. When Mr. Thompson singa "Roll, Jordán, Roll," you begin to wonder if the foundations can be depended on.
