Wickliffe, Ky., June 9. - Monday morning at 1 o'clock a mob lynched Evans Shelby in the jaĆ¼ at this place. Evans murdered Mrs. Sallie Moore, near Woodville, in October, 1888, for money. Shelby made a desperate resistance, fighting as long as life lasted. Som e of the lynchers were badly hurt. The mob reported that they had previously hung Mart Shelby, under indictment as accessory to the crime. Evans had been tried and given a life sentence, but the court of appeals gave him a new trial last week.
