The Republican ward caucuses in this city last Friday night were the most exciting in years. In the first ward the Pingree men electeda solid delegation, G. Frank Allmendinger defeating Henry S. Dean by a vote of 24 to 23. A. J. Sawyer, E. F. Mills, S. A. Moran and J. R. Miner were elected the other delegates by large majorities. At this ward one or two bitter and rankling expressions were dropped during the conT test. In the second ward the Pingree forces won, electing John Heinzmann, O. O. Sorg, Eugene Kl Frueauff and Fred Huhn. In the third ward the Pingree forces were in the majority but the Rich men secured chairman and won the raucus, e e:ting C. E. Hiscock, P. Banfield, VV. G. Burchfïeld and Jas. B. Saunders. In the fourth ward the Rich men had the majority and elected J. F. Lawrence, Geo. H. Pond, Dr. Flemming Carrow, Major Stevens and Jerome Freeman. The fifth ward was divided, Eli Moore, Earl Ware and Wm, Lodholz being elected delegates. Pingree carried the sixth ward, H. G. Prettyman, Thos. J. Keech and Dr. L. P. Hall being chosen delegates. From the whole city Pingree had 14 delegates and Rich 10. Bitter feeling was developed in several of thewards.
