Wirt Carpenter was in Arm Arbor on business, Saturday. The farmers are beginning to sow wheat here this week. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. August Lesser, a boy, Tuesday, Sept. 6íh. A nurnber of Dexter people attended the Germán Dayin Ypsilanti. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scheiferstein, a son, Monday, Sept. Sth. The Hudson and Dover people picniced at Portage Lake, last Saturday. The high school began here last Monday with a large number of scholars. Prof. Shartafi intends to start aj class in the business course Eft the high school. Chris. Brenner is now sole proprietor of the saloon on the corner of Main and B. streets. Dexter was visited by a band of jypsies, last week, that carried with them a bear and some monkeys. Mr. John Becker has purchased the Parlor barber shop and intends to serve his old customers as before. Mr. James Lyman, of Pinckney, Kas purchased the meat market of Geo. Smith and intends to do business here. Ernest Elsazer had seventy-five dollars in cash stolen from his saloon, one night last week. The thjef has not been discovered as yet.
