The Democrats of the second represeutative district of this county nominated a strong candidate for representative last Friday. The conventiou met at Saliue and was called to order by Dr. D. P. McLachlin, of York. Ilenry Stumpenhusen, of Ypsilanti town, was made temporary chairman, and George Hammond, of Saline, temporary secretary. The following committees were appointed: Credentials- Jacob L. Foerester, J. Manly Young, James Benham. Permanent Organization - John W. Nanry, A. D. Mclntyre, W. A. Russell. Resolutions- John P. Kirk, Thomas Moran, Philip Blum. Upon reassembling at one o'clock, the temporary officers were made permanent. The credentials showed full delegations. P. G. Suekey nominated F. E. Mills, of Pittsfield, for representative. Ilis nomination was seconded by Eugene Ilelber, of Saline; Philip Blum, sr., of Lodi, and John W. Nanry, of Superior. John P. Kirk nominated M. T. Woodruff, of Ypsilanti. John J. Robisou nominated William B. Osborne,of Sharon. Thos. Moran nominated E. D. Fenn, of Bridgewater. It took nine ballots to decide the nomination. The ballots were as follows: lst 2d 3d 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th Mills 35 34 3" 39 39 40 38 40 41 Woodruff 23 26 2T 26 25 27 26 2T. 24 Osborae 14 14 17 16 16 13 18 15 15 Fenn 8 7 2 2 On motion the nomination of F. E. Mills was made unanimous. The following delegates were elected to the representative convention: M. T. Woodruff, V. -B. Osborne, A. Davenport, S. T. Gridley, J. J. Robison, Geo. W. Gill, James Hogan, E. P. Harper, and Thomas Holmes. The following legislative committee was appointed: M. T. Woodruff. Wm. B. Osborne, and Eugene Hilber.
