A short constitution was adopted, which states the purpose of the organization to be to arouse a general interest in the questions of the day, to, arouse free, unpartizan discussion, and to bring together the scholar and business man in the consideration of political questions. Members are admitted upon the approval of the executive committee and the payment of the fee which is three dollars. judge Edward Cahill, of Lansing, was elected president, and Prof. F. M. Taylor, secretary. The next meeting will be held in Ann Arbor, Feb. 21, and it is hoped that amerabership of one hundred and fifty will be secured by that time. The subjects for discussion have been selected, but no definiteassignments have been made as yet. The long cherished design of forming a state association of political scientists was realized at a meeting held in Lansing Dec. 29. The cali for the meeting carne from President AngelĂ­, Profs. Adams and Knowlton and others, and was held in the governor's parlors. It was attended by men in the different professions who are interested in Political Economy and included college professors, lawyers, bankers, legislators, etc. Several interesting papers were read, including papers by Judge Cooley, on "Early Banking in Michigan," Prof. Wajdo, of Albion, on "History of the National Bank System," and Mr. Hurcbman, of Detroit, on "Repeal of Taxon State Bank Circulation."
