Abner Gregory was fined $25 and costs by Justice Pond yesterday under a city ordinance designed to prevent gambling. Gregory lives over Walsh's saloon on Washington street. On Wednesday night three students were gambling with him and together lost $68. It is said that they refused to leave until they got their money back. Gregory then locked two of them in, the third getting away and going for an officer. Marshal Murray released the students and made complaint against Gregory. A number of poker chips were captured. Gregory pled guilty. Complaint was also made against the students for gambling and they were fined one dollar each.
