Mrs. Homer Sill is quite ill with the grippe. Mrs. R. Ostrander and children eft for their home in Stockbridge, Vlonday. There are a few cases of whooping cough in Milan. The Presbyterian young people had an interesting social at Mr. Butler's residence last Tuesday evening. The young people of the Baptist church are talking of indulging in a valentine social. Frank Jackson, of Grayling., is visiting Milan friends. The high school lyceum vvill decide, Friday evening, vvhether it will be best to reinstate capital punishment in Michigan. Mrs. Will Woolcott is entertaining her brother from Maple Grove this week. A load of Milan people drove to Ann Arbor, Friday evening, and spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Babcock. A jolly load of youths and their girls visited theMisses Dexter, at Vpsilanti, Friday evening. Mr. James Gauntlett has returned from his northern trip, accompanied by his son, Dr. Gauntlett, who has been very ill, but is now convalescent. Mr. O. H. Kelly has returned from his Saginaw trip. Mrs. Thomas Fuller moved from Milán back onto her farm, Saturday- Mr. E. Darson and family moved into Mrs. T. Fuller's house on Hurd street, Monday. Eggs 40c per dozen in Milán. Everybody is looking for eggless cake receipts. Prof. Stanley and wife, of Ypsilanti, visited their Milán friends Saturday and Sunday. C. E. Case will continue meetings t Moorville through the week, asisted by Miss Lena Blinn. W. Copple is clerking for V. H. Vhitmarsh. Mrs. Powers, of Grand Rapids, nd her sister, Mrs. W. W. Watts, of 4nn Arbor, were the guests of Mrs. V. H. Whitmarsh a few days last week. Tuesday evening there carne a slight rain, which froze and covered the walks with ice, many of the pedestrians taking the center of the street for walking; but one poor youth took a tumble on the icy sidewalk, and as he carne down full weight, mother earth trembled and he youth ejaculated, "Goshation, omething's coming down!" The I. O. O. F., of Wolverine odge, met with the Daughters of lebekah, of Clematis lodge, Tuesay, for the purpose of installing ïeir respective officers. Past Grand laster J. Sprague, of Ann Arbor, ïad the pleasure of installing the orthy brothers, which he did in an nteresting and imposing manner. 'hen followed the installation of the sisters, which was done by the installing ofïïcer, Mrs. Fred Guy, in a pleasing manner. After the installation the lodge adjourned to Lee Hitchcock's restaurant, where a supper was spread with a tempting menu.
