Lansiítg, Feb. 27. - On account of some disagreement between tbe city jforernment of Detroit an d the Michig-an Península Car company over the matter of taxation, the story has gone abroad that the car ivorks would not be unwillinjf to leave the state metropolis if the proper inducements were offered. This has started a number of towns to bidding for this rich industrial plum. The works employ severa! thousand men constantly, and amopg the offers recorded so far is one from the city of Monroe of 500 acres of land and 8100,000 in cash. Several other towns have formulated bids.
