The mercury reached 78 degrees in the shade at noon, April 7. Austin Smith has moved from St. l'Ohn's to Pittsfield, and now occupies the Edward Smith farm. Grass and grain are doing well at present. Farmers are hopeful of doing better the coming season than they did last year. Married, March 30, at the residence of the bride's parents, Flora, daughter of Mr. Isaac Suddaby, to Charles E. Gooding, of York. Pittsfield Union Sunday-school is now held each Sunday afternoon in the Roberts school-house. at 3:30, under the superintendence of Deacon Canfield. Died, 011 Friday, March 31, William Crane, long a resident of this township. Mr. Crane was about 72 years of age, and was the father of the Rev. Alphonso Crane. In his death Pittsfield loses a citizen much esteemed and respected. 1 Pittsfield pays a bounty of 15 cents on crows, hawks, and woodchucks; but Town Clerk Jas. H. Webb, is instructed to swear every person who brings him anything of that sort to the effect that they were killed within the limits of the township.
