Weather warm and rainy. Master Charlie Luxton has the mumps. Mrs. C. M. Fuller was quite ill last week. Guy Coe visited Arm Arbor the first of the week. Mrs. J. C. Harper visited friends in Detroit this week. Dr. Pyle returned this week from his Chicago sojourn. Mrs. F. Leonard has returned from her visiting tour. Mr. Thurbur Blackmer returned from Corunna, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Hinkley visited Belleville friends, Friday. G. Minto started out again this week as commercial traveler. Mrs. Vincent and Mrs. Wallace visited friends at Stony Creek last week. The Baptist aid society hold their annual election of officers ,on Wednesday. C. M. Debenham, of Owosso, visited his family at Milan during the week. Mr. and Mrs. T. Barnes and son, of Dundee, spent Sunday with Milan friends. Misses Susie and Nellie Knight visited Mrs. T. Barnes at Dundee, Wednesday. The Ann Arbor Chequamegons will play at the Milan commencement, June 15. Mrs. Rena Harris, of Adrián, is the guest of her father, L. Burnham, for a few weeks. Mrs. W. Woolcott is visiting friends in Jackson and Maple Ridge for a few weeks. Mrs. Wm. Hoyt, of Saline, was the guest of her daughter, Mrs. H. Sill, over Sunday. Mr. L. Eldredge left for Adrián Sunday, where he will visit his father, who is quite ill. Saturday evening, during a fearful thunder-storm, J. Dexter's new barn was struck by lightning. The Milan cornet band will go to Jackson in the near future and discourse sweet music to the citizens. Mrs. Geo. Minto left Monday for a few weeks' visit with her mother, Mrs. Wilkinson, at Vernon, Mich. The Baptist society will have an interesting program for Children's Day, June n; exercises to be in the evening. Editor Smith, of the Milan Leader, has a large demand for his paper, and it is a welcome visitor in several hundred homes. Married, May 31, at the residence of Mr. Chas. Schmitt, Mr. Harry Whitehead and Miss Emma Huff, both of Milan, Rev: J. O. Heek officiating. An elegant reception was given to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whitehead on Wednesday evening, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Whitehead. The Milan cornet band was in attendance. The presents were many and beautiful. The collation was sumptuous. Milan has a Maccabee hive for the ladies, with the following officers. Lady commander, Mrs. Alice Hitchcock; lady lieutenant commander, Mrs. L. Clark; lady record keeper, Mrs. C. Gump; ladyfinance keeper, Mrs,. G. Hitchcock; lady prelate, Mrs. M. Annington: mistress-at-arms, Mrs. J. Dentón; lady sergeant, Mrs. Lottie Hitchcock; lady sentinel, Mrs. M. Lockwood; lady picket, Mrs. Lizzie Richards.
