Quorum preeent. Absent- AMs. Snow, Ferguson, Taylor. Prett-yinan and Pres. Watts- 5. The elrair announced that the first order of business would be motions arod re.solutions. On niotion of Aid. Martin the floor was granrbed to Dr. Hale. Ir. Hule stated that lie was here to put the water works iin first class coaiditkmi and to give the city au ampie water supply. I'y Aid. Wagner : i;, solve.d, That the Aun Arbov Water Co. be herebyrequested to place forthwith a telephone ut tho place near the reservoir or on the corner of Chubb and Spriug streets, where tbey have stationed a man to turn the of the water mains on hearing au alarm of flre. same to be directly connected with telephone at Engine House, from six o'clook p. m. to six o'cloek a. m. ín case the water compauy fails to place said telephoue by noon of Aug. 17, the City Werk is hereby directed to cause the same to be done and report his action to the Council. Aid. Herz moved that the resolutiirn be reterred to thi Board of Fire Comrufeskmers md Fire Committee, with power to act and report at oui' next meeting. To the Oom mom Council : The following recommendation was made by the Board of Public Works, as requested by the commou council, asklng for estímate of the cost of grading Mary street, from Packard to Edwin streets : We estímate the cost for said "grading and filling in, abont $100.
