Will Investigate The Lynching

Lansing, Oct. Governor Rich and Attorney Oeneral JEllie were in conference together several hours talking over the charges brought by the latter against Sheriff Jacobs of Shiawasse couuty in connection with the lynching of William Snllivan at Corunna last May, and the governor lias issued a formal order directing the attorney general to Uke charge of the investigation. The lavv requires the testimony to be takon before the judge of lrobate or one of the circuit court corumiasioners. Jnd-c of Probate Bush, whose home is i; Vernon townsbip, tliree miles froia Durand, vbere most of the lynchers are supposed to reside, eays his health is poor, and the investigation will therefore probably be conducted before Circuit Court Commiseioner J. G. Kni.irht of Owosso. The attorney general will proceed in the matter as soon as possible and wil] make a very searching investigation.
