On Monday last the case of John Porlock vs. Edward Kwieciuske was tried with a jury and resulted in a verdict of 100 for the plaintiff. The complaint was for an assault upon Porlock June 4, in the township of Augusta. Emanuel Paul submitted to a non-suit in his case against the township of Lodi. On Monday, in the case of John S. Dunklee vs. George H. Hammond, et al., the judge directed the jury to return a verdict of $2,903.29 for the plaintiff. The case of Lucius Tubbs vs. M. C. R. R. Co., occupied the attention of the court and jury, Monday and Tuesday, and resulted in the court's directing a verdict for the defendant. Tubbs carried the mail from the depot to the postoffice in Dexter and was struck by the Grand Rapids express at the time of our last county fair, while walking down the track and badly injared. A decree and order of sale was entered in the case of Lizzie Stewart vs. Mary A. DeForest, et al., for $603.45. A decree and order of sale was also entered for $1,045.32 in the case of George G. Shaffer vs. Frederick Breitenwischer.
