Marshall, Dec. 25.--The jury in the trial of Conductor Scott, charged with causing the wreck at Battle Creek in which so many lives were lost, Saturday returned, a verdict of not guilty. The first ballot stood 8 to 4 for acquittal, and it took five ballots to decide.

Engineer Woolley's case cannot come on until the March term, and the chances are in favor of its being nolle prossed.
