Hand Taken To Jackson
james Clifford Hand was taken to Jackson prison Friday afternoon to serve out a life sentence for the murder of Jay Pulver. His iron nerve sustained him through the various trials and at the trme of the verdict and sentence. Butafterbeing taken back to jail he broke down and the next day seemed to be badly broken up. He talked agood deal and denied being guilty of the murder, which hesaid wascommitted by a prominent citizen of Ypsilanti. Quite a numberof people assembled at the station to see him off. Deputy-sheriffs McCabe and Brenner had him in charge. It is reported that some of the law students are taking steps to make up a purse to be used in carrying the case to the supreme court.
