Mysterious Shooting

Atlanta. Jan. 18. - Williain Givens, living near the Exposition milis. ís undpr arrest, charged with attempting to murder bis wife. About ' o'clock Wcilnesday morning Mrs. Givens was aw.vkened by a pistoí shot in her room. Si., sprang up screaming. She tliought her husband was beside her and ecreamed all the louder vvhen she found he was not. Two more shots followed and the woraan feil back on the bed wounded. Her husband called to her uot be frightened and not to scream and, getting a light, came to her nmeh excited. He helped to stop t.he flow of blood. At daylight he went for a doctor. The pólice were uotified at 9 o'clock and the arrest followed. He protests his innocence. His wife told the pólice she tliought he did the shooting.
