Prominent Politician Arrested

Wheeling, Jan. 18. - Benjamin t,arn6haw, one of the most prominent Democratie Doliticians in the state, and tor 10 yeai's a member of the Wetzel county court, was arrested here while atteinptins: to negotiate forged county orders at Simpson & Hazlett's brokers' office. He was caught by officers who were secreted in the room and w-hen arrested attempted to swallow a S1.0ÜÜ order he held in his hand. Earnshaw fignred in the contested election cases in this state four years ago. The arrest has caused a sensation. Forged orders for 4,500 more were found on his person.
