A tremendous effort has been made by the protected manufacturers all over the country to make it appear that the Wilson bilí has jeen the cause of the reductions in ie wages of their employés. That hey are not honest in their position n this question has been shown reeatedly by examples from various 3dsts of the country. The latest to come under our bservation ïs given in a communication from a business man to the Pittsburgh Post, and commented upon by the Louisville CourierJournal as follows: "The merehant in question had :i cali from the represenatives of a (ueensware manufactory at East Liverpool, O. He made the usual report of dull times, which, hesaid, were caused by the Wilson Bill. Some oí tle factories at East Liverpool liad reduced wages 25 per cent.; his own had made a reduetíon of 45 per cent. When the'time carne for disèussing business the Pennsylvania merchant asked the agent of the factory vvheather prices had been reduced to correspond with the cut in wages. The agent said he was still selling by the old pncelist. Thereupon the merchant told him that he would not buy a dollar's worth of goods from an establishment that would practice such a f rand as that upon its employés. Li these protected manufacturera choose to make their agents political missionaries, and instruct them to try to influence public sentiment by false statements as to their reason for reducing wages, they should be held to the logical consequences of their own positions. If wages have been reduced, prices should come down in a corresponding rati). The reduction of wages without change of prices is a fraud both on the workraen and the pnblic."'
