Parsons was head bookkeeper and practical) y manager oí' the Wells Stone company, in whose employ he has been for 10 years, every confidence being reposed in him. He drew a salary of 81.500 per anuuru during the past year and iiasspent at least S4.5ÜÜ on practically a new house, bought a 01,000 electric launch and in his room was a secret arsenal of rancy guns whose estimated vaJvie was about S80Ü. On Thursday nigbt, when ñve .iournals, threa ledgtrs and a number of vouchers disappeared from the vault. a patrolman passing Parsons' residence, not far from the office, after 11 o'clock, states that he saw thick black smoke issning from the chimney, while the odor of burning paper and leather permeated the neighborhood, apparently coming from the furnace of the house in question. The complaint is signed by E. P. Stone. one of the present managers of the Stone company. The missing books cover all the luinber transactiona of the firni, which were on alarge scale, since 1887. Detective Williams of the Pinkerton agency has arrived here and it is understood he will work on the case, which, on account of the rnysterious nature and the probability that inany thousands of dollars are involved is the sensation of the hour. Parsons had the entree into the best society, is a single man, 27 years of age, and resided with his mother, who is one of Saginaw's most esteemed ladies. Further and more startling developments are expected.
