The iollowing officers of the Baptist foung Peoples' Union, were elected Cuesday evening: President, II. C. Vmerman; lst yice-president, VVm. vimmel; 2d vice-president, Stella Jross; Secretary, Anna Coombs; treasirer, Mrs. M. Ehtnun; correspunding iecretary, Anis Dexter. The W, R. C. gave a 10 cent tea at ;he resideiice of J. Z. Ilarrison on Fuesday evening. Presiding Eider Allen, of Detroit, jreached to a large audience at the VI. E. church, Sunday evèning. E. F. Bailey, formerly of the Business College, is now solicitor for the Preferred Bankers' Life Insurance Co. )f Lansing, in Washtenaw county. Mrs. II. M. Curtisspent Wednesday, in Detroit. They have a fine stand and the store . looks very trim and neat. There will be a "Japanese Wedding" at the Baptist church Friday eveniug. Admissiou 15 cents, A private party will be given at the Light guard hall next Friday evening. Art Sullivan is clerking in Densmore & Fells'. Dr. Allen, of Detroit, delivered a temperan ce lecture at the M. E. church Monday eveniug, a large evov. d being present. The Law and Order league was fully organized with the following offlcers: President, Wm. II. Deubel; vice-presidents, liev. II, M. Morey, Rev. F. Kennedy, Prof. Daniel Putnam, Prof. B. L. L"Ooge, L. S. Warner; secretary, P. L. Cleary, treasurer, B. M. Damon. Rev. Mr. Van Kirk, of the Baptist church. preached on "The Question of Drink," Sunday evening. Next Sunday evening he will preach the last sermon of the series of "Questions Concerning Young Men." His subject will be, "The Question Above all Others: What think ye of ChristV" An auction sale of clothing, etc, is going on at Trim & McGregor's store. G. M. Brown, who keeps a boarding house ori Hurón street, has decided to reopen the Roberts House on Cross street. He will occupy ït about May lst. The Baptists intend getting out a new monthly paper to be known as "The Baptist Record.'" The next lecture of the Ladies" Library Association will be given by Prof. George, May lst, at the Congre-,'ütional church, on ''Education and the Poets." sometime next month a minstrel entf :ainment will be given at Cleary lia ; í by some prominent ladies of YpsiHi u ei. Entertainments of this kind have recently been given at Chicago and Grand Rapids, and taken patf in by some of the prominent peopie of those cities. Ypsilanti is neverin the rear. Rev. E. S. Shaw, of Benzonia, editor of the Michigan Congregationalist, visited his parents here, Sunday.
