Detroit, May 28.- August Radnian, aged U years, living at the corner of St. Aubin avenue and Leiand street, j was 8truck blind by lightniug about 4 O'olock Sunday afternoon, and Frank and John Kuchnowski, aged 5 and U ' years, respec-tively, of 1091 Chene street, were serioutsly shocked by the Baine bolt. When it began to rain the three boys were one biock frotn the corner of Chene and Collins streets. The clouds had been gathering for some time and they were hurrying to reach their homes. They ran as fast as they could, but were over taken by a dowupour of rain and eonipelitd to Beek shelter at the corner meutioned. Finally the storm spent its fury. and the rain ceased all but a few scattering drops. The boys ooncluded to take advantage of the lui] in the storm and hasten onward. They buttoned their jackets arounü ttieui and ran out on the sidewalk. Just then there was a terrific thunder clap, and the next instant a lurid shaft of lightning. descended in their midst. All were knocked senseless, but tne two Kuchnowski boya soon recovered and lirnped away. The Batimán boy laid in the mud motionless until a man who had viewed the accident from hia windovv cauie to his assistance. It was readily seen that the boy was serionsly hurt, and Harper hospital ambulance was called. At the hospital the lad regained consciousness, but was dazed and unable to articúlate. On examination it was found that he was blind in both eyes, his face was badly scorched, his eyebrows were singed off, his hair was burned from his head and only a few hairs remained around his neck. His back was bleeding in several places and he was otherwise severely maimed. The physicians will not venture to say whether the injuries received will result fatally or not. but a less severe shock has been known to . kill men. The Kuchnowski boys were assisted to their homes by men who happened to be near. They are also hurt, but not seriously. They are burned in several places about the body. Besides injuring the boys the bolt tore up considerable grouñd and created havoc in the neighborhood in which it struck.
