Mrs. Chas, Clark' is quite Ul. . Frank Bray is visiting his parents. J. H. Ford has returned from Mt. Clemeuts. Miss Daly has returned to her home in Dexter. Mrs. Ford has returned from her visiting tour. Miss Millie Hitchcock has returned to Ypsilanti. Mrs. Wm. Whaley is quite ill with rheumatism. Miss Ella Murray is visiting Ypsilanti friends. Mr. C. M. Fuller visited Petersburg the last of the week. Mrs. yhitrnarsh and Mrs. Barnes visited Ann Arbor, Friday. Mrs. S. T. Blackmer and son are visiting relatives in Corunna. The G. A. R. and W. R. C. will indulge in a picnic the 4th of July. Mrs. Dunniner is entertaining her daughter, Mis, Rock, from Detroit. Mr. O. A. Kelly has a fine looking residence with a bran new coat of paint. The B. ï. P. U. had au ice cream eat, Monday evening, at the Baptist church. Homer 8ill and family and Miss Alma Siü have retiirned from their Lansing visit. The Eastern Star social had a fine program and metiu, and all had an enjoyable time. Mr. J. Clark returned Saturday to the Normal school after a lew ilays visit at home. Milan gardens have greatly improved since the Saturday, Suuday and Monday showers. The Presbyterian ladies will hold their tea social at the Parsonage, Tuesday afternoon. New sidewalks are to take the place of the old ones and soon Milau will present a fine appearance. The lïoung People's Social club were entertained at Allen 'Aldermas, one evening the last of the week. The Universalists will indulge in a lawn fete at Mrs. Chas. Blackiner's, Saturday evening. Refreshments and a program are the calling features. Miss Edna Zimmermann was greatly surprised Thursday evening by eighteen of her young friends coming to celébrate her eighteenth birthday. Mrs. Minnie Brown, whotook poison through mistake, Weduesday morning, died Friday afternoon. The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday morning, Rev. E. Yager officiating. She leaves a husband and one daughter. Dr. Luxton had a verv close cali on Saturday afternoon. While driving near Stony Creek he was overtaken by a thunder storm and his horse was struck by lightning. The horse was killed and in falling overturned the carriage which thew the doctor ont. He struck on his shoulder, badly bruising it. The people of the Baptist church received a fine treat Sunday in the shape of a few beautiful selections sung by Mr. Preston Rouse, of Saline. Mr. Rouse gives a new meamng to old hymne by the rnanner in which they are rendered. He is a great favorite witli the Milan people and one has only to announce that he will be with iis and a crowd is sure to attend his cominer.
