A Lunatic's Jump

Last Friday an oíd man named Benedict, who has been 12 years an ! inmate of the county house, and is considered insane, undertook the contract of ending his life by jumping from the third to the first floor, through the ventilator or scuttle. The job, though well planned, miscarried and the old gentleman was gathered up with vitality unimpaired but with a bioken leg, which carne in contact with an iron pipe. He said he had had all he wanted of this world, but the jump, though a long one, landed him short of eternity. It is learned that he has a son living in Grand Rapids.
