Captain W. H. Knight was surround ed by strikers and beaten with club and stones, but bis injuries are no dangerous. Ernest Knight, the crane inan on the steam shovel, was chasei half a ruile by a uiob of 50. Seeing hi escape cut off he turned and fired int his pursuers and esuaped with only a severe beating. The strikers are in an angry inooc and the more conservative citizens fear that more trouble is brewing. A coui mittee of business men is trying to bring the oompany and the men to gether in conference with a view t ending the strike.
