M. E. Taylor and friends were Pinckney visitors Saturday eveniiig. Last Sunday afternoon while John Hughes and wife and daughter were returning home at'ter attending the funeral of a friend, ttreir horse became unmanageable when going down a bilí the harness gave away and Mrs Hughes was thrown from the buggy and was injured quite badly about the back and shoulders. Will Dolan has been the guest ol Pinckney friends for the past few days. Chas. Etchells, formerly of this place, was marned to Miss Marie Billo of Mt. Clemens, July 9. Mr. Staekable, of Hamburg, was a Sunday visitor here with friends. John Fohey, of Genoa, was entertained by friends here, last Sabbath. Bessie Daley Spent Saturday in Ann Arbor. Lizzie Conklin, of Pettysville, spent Sunday in the village. Mrs. Schermerhorn has been entertaining her mother. Mr Sears and wife were with Pinckney friends two days of last week. Mr. Pearce and family are staying in the Stannard cottage at Portage for a few days. Mr. Gulick and daughter were in Ann Arbor, Wednesday. A family now occupies one of Mr. Jíirkett s tenant liouses; name uuknown. Wm. Brown, of Ann Arbor, spent Suiulay at the Portage. John Harris and son James passed liere Wednesday on their way to Detroit. Chas. Schoen and family were with friends in Bridgewater, Saturday and Sunday. William Ballou and wife spent Sunday with Northfield relatives. Mrs. Hugh McCabe entertained her sister from Podunk, Sunday. Jesse Parsons and wife received a telegram, Thursday, announcing the death of her mother at Bay City, and attended the funeral, which was held at Mason. Miss -Frankie Ciishing i 3 home from her v.isit in Monroe. Mr. Brady and sister, of Pinckney, made us a pleasant call the last of the week. The Misses M. Srnith and Annie Vincent, of Ann Arbor, spent Sunday with some of their friends in this vicinity. Burt Hudson and family will move in one of the company's houses at Hudson. Joseph Placeway and wife and friends, of Pettysville, called on friends Tuesday. L. Alley is repainting his store now oecupied py L. L. James. John Shehan and son Torn, of Hamburg, were here Wednesday. Mr. Brown and family, of Ann Arbor, are camping at the Portage Bluffs. George Clark, of Putnam, was here on business, Priday F. S. Alley and wife are spending the week at the lake. John and James Gallagher were at the county seat the last of the week. Mr. Campbell, of Detroit, ealled on friends dunng the past week. Miss M. M. Taylor was entertained by her Ann Arbor friends the last of the week. Nick Eeid and Will Story spent Sunday at Zukey lake. John Becker was at the lakes last Monday. Mrs. S. Taylor spent the ürst of the week in Lyndon. D. Wilcox, of Iosco, who is spending the summer near North Lake, was drowned last Sunday morning while in bathing. He was highly respected by all who knew him and leaves a large circle of friendg. Willie Armstrong spent Sunday with his sister. Chas. Dwyer and wife, of Ann Arbor, spent Sunday with C. Lavey and family. Miss M. R. Lavey is enjoying a visit from her cousin this week. Married, July 17, 1894, Lewis Haab and Miss Austin, both of Webster. May much happiness and prosperity attend them through life. Mrs. J. H. Carmody left, Thursday, íor cer nome in i;nicago. Miss Jessie Doane is spending a few weeks at Bay View. H. A. Williams and family, of Ann Arbor, are visiting their parents. A. R. Beal and wife are entertain, ng tbeir daughter. Mis. H. C. Gregory will entertain her nephew the next few weeks. Eobert King, of Muskegon, is visiting his aunt and other relatives. Mrs. Tuttle, of Chicago, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. W. Pratt. R. P. Copeland spent last week with bis son at Bay City, Rev. F. M. White and the Misses Cora Warren and Nellie Keal are attending the B. Y. P. U. convention at Toronto, this week. Mrs. Julia Stannard and daughter Ione started, Wednesday, for Hackley Park. John Conley, of Webster, is now among our bicycle club, having purchased a Security. Mrs. Maguire and daughter Josie, of Ypsilanti, are spending the summer with her daughter. Otto Durbach feil in the barn of A. Collins, broke several ribs, and received other injuries that may prove fatal. There will be no services held at the Congregational church on July 29 and August 5, during the pastor's vacation. Mr. Murphy, of Detroit, who has been in the employ of O, A. Vaughn on his farm the past few months, died very suddenly last Thursday afternoon from the effects of a sunstroke. The remains were taken to Detroit for burial on Friday. He was about thirty-five years of age and leaves an aged mother to mourn his loss. Geo. Alley, wife and grand-daughter spent Sunday with their son at the lakes. Mattie Glenn is the guest of her sister at Munith. Mrs. Rowe entertained friends last Tuesday. Gertie Chamberlain returned to her ! home in Foster's last Friday, after a six weeks' stay in this place. Mr. Asquith, of Gregory, visited his sister Saturday and Sunday. T. Birkett has added two white goats to his park. Mrs. Robbins entertained her father from Ypsilanti several days of last week. Mr. E. C. Car stopped here on a visit last week on his way home to Chicago trom a trip to lrelañd. Benjamin Culy has returned from Mt. Clemens. J. V. N. Gregory, H. Phelps, L. L. James, Chas. Warner, Alfred Phelps, P. Guiñan and daughters attended the races in Detroit Tuesday. Mrs. J. Eagan, after a six weeks' stay with her parents, has returned tq her home in Brooklyn, N. Y. Mrs. Jay Warren is home from Muskegon after a ten days' stay. Will Neeb and wife, of Detroit, have been visiting his mother. Elmer Mains and wife, of Detroit, have been visiting Dexter friends. A. C. Collins and wife are back from their visit at Concord. The Misses Lottie and Flora Pearce have L;one to visit their uncle at Spring Arbor. Miss Mary Armstrong, of Boston, will spend the summer with her cousins. Miss Anna Lee entertained the Y.' P. S. C. E. at her home last Tuesday evening, good music, both instrumental and vocal, being fiunished. The evening was well spent and enjoyed by all present. Helen Dixon is home on a vist. Lulu Wiltse, of Albion, will spend her summer vacation with her many friends in this vicinity.
