The Ypsilanti athletic association has reached ioo. Repairing of all kinds will receive prompt attention at Martin Haller's. Johnson & Sons, of Ypsilanti, have 46,000 dozen eggs in cokl storage. The Ypsilanti Gun Club shoot was not multiferions. Only three shot. Young People's society of Zion church held a picnic at Whitmore lake yesterday. Martin Schaller, recently returned from Germany, will soon open a book store on E. Washington street. Damm & Walker, before Justice Bennett, waived examination and will go into the circuit court on the charge of keeping open after legal hours. The Dixboro ball bangers, having blacked the eyes of the Plymouths last Saturday, will "scrap" with the Atlantis, at Ypsilanti, Monday afternoon. No clue has yet been obtained to the stranger whose excellent gall procured him a trial ride on H. J. Brown's bicycle. It is $50 to the man who catches him. William Campbell, of Ypsilanti, accused of being so spiritually inclined as to run an open saloon Sunday, will have a trial August 2. Capt. Allen defends him. A summer concert will be given July 31 at St. Luke's parish, Ypsilanti, for the benefit of the vested choir camping fund. The best talent in Ypsilanti is under contract. The republican county convention to elect delegates to the congressional convention, is called for Tuesday, August 9th, and the Ann Arbor ward caucuses for Friday evening, Aug. 3. The Chicago Herald hears from Buffalo that tomorrow Bob Fitzsimmons will try to put Frank Keiler to sleep in four rounds. Keiler is made chiefly of leather and boarding-house "spring chicken" and will probably last the four rounds. The Adrain Telegram attributes the holding of the republican congressional convention in Adrián to the "persuasviness" of Doe Smith. Yes, theedoctor is one of the smoothest persuaders in the four counties of No. 2. The two men charged with uncleanliness in managing the contents of' a Sixth ward cess pool, have paid a fine of $19. They had neglected to be guided by the scriptare which saith that "cleanliness is next to Godliness." Bert Goodell, of Ypsilanti, dashed full tilt accross the street the other evening, at a moment when a hitching post moved into his orbit. The crash was terrific. Goodell was filled so full of slivers that he has not been able to get his shirt off since. Secretary W. K. Childs informs us that at a meeting of the officers of the Washtenaw Mutual Fire Insurance Company, held on the 23a, twelve losses were adjusted, all of them very light and aggregating only about $250, mainly the result of lightning. The Argus has received a humorous but unpublishable communication from one of the Dexter open air church girl-grabbers, who line up, fifty strong, along the walks, Sunday nights. It is signed "A Dude," and is evidently written by a person in good health. The delay in closing up the deal for the opera house property is caused by the fact that there is an infant heir. P. W. Shute now has the necessary papers to be placed on record and something definite will be done shortly. - Times Ypsilanti locáis. Probably "shoot the" heir. Barbara Neithammer a domestic in the employ of Mrs. Swathel, S. Main street, while employed Tuesday morning at the top of a ladder, arranging the trailing of a morning glory vine, received a fall by which several bones in the left wrist were fractured. Dr. Breakey attended the case. The Young People's Societies of the city will unite during the month of August, services to be heldin the church selected for the union evening meetings. The young people's services will begin at 6:30. A cordial invitation is extended to all. The following topics_ and leaders have been chosen: Aug. 5: Companionship with Jesus. Acts 4:13. Mr. Wm. Huil. Hildner. - ___ Martin Haller will furniture the bookstore of Martin Schaller. Indians vs. White Men. tomorrow afternoon. Heap base ball. The jury who sat on Hackman O'Niel, disagreed. Next trial August 7. _ Henry Johnson complained to Justice Pond against Geo. Alien for battery. Alien paid a fine. Mr. D. Cramer recently submitted to an operation, at Hastings, for the removal of a cataract from the eye. Chas. Schott was shot in the arm with a stone, as he was on his way home, Wednesday night. He is very lame in the arm. Who shot Schott? Marcus Burroughs, for disturbing the peace of Ypsilanti, was fined $15, or instead might work 65 days in the H. of C. There being no contract with the workhouse, defendant escaped. Maj. Howell, of Adrián, is out of the Republican field for treasurer. . He found himself mixed up with the Pingree people and says he can't go it and will not run. Maj. Howell is out. Among those who have entered for the Hilsendegen 25-mile bicycle race of the Detroit Athletic club open tournament are Elmer Stofflett and A. S. Houghton, Ann Arbor; Chas. L. Page, Ypsilanti; andF. H. Plain, Lima. It is reported from Wiard, east of Ypsilanti, that, last Friday night, a freight car was fired on by two men, five shots being heard, and some of the bullets striking the cab. Detectives are looking into the affair. A party of young people made merry at the home of Will Caspary, Tuesday evening. The affair was a surprise for Mr. Caspary's friend, Dr. Swantek. Music, games, the dance, and a social reunión made the evening a delightful one. All except twenty shares of the street railway stock is in the bondholders' hands. The above shares being out, it is necessary to advertise a meeting, which is now called for August 16, to elect a board of directors and take action to equip and opérate the road. Ypsilanti will furnish at least three candidates for the county offices this fall. T. L. Towner and M. T. Woodruff will both try and secure the nomination on the Democratie ticket for county clerkship, while C. P. McKinstry, who ran so well two years ago for register of deeds on the Republican ticket, will probably try conclusions again with Mr. Hughes. - Times Ypsilanti Item. Secretary W. K. Childs, of the Farmers' Insurance Company, is seized with that amiable infirmity - a desire to make the race for county clerk. Mr. Childs, if elected, would prove worthy and well qualified; but before he goes any further in the canvas the Argus feels it a duty to teil him that the democrats have concluded to keep the office and the republicans will still be Childless of the clerkship. Sam Baumgartner and a friend were driving by the M. C. track on the River road, Tuesday evening. A train came then and there. Then and there the horse began backing down, down "a hundred fathoms deep, when one of them - it was not Sam - executed a flying leap over the horse's back and getting the horse by the bits with one hand and a spear of grass with the other held the situation till the train passed. It was a very thoughtful caper, and in the hands of a man with the gout would have proved a total failure.
