Frederick Fisher and son are in Detroit. Miss Emily Gwinner is visiting in Detroit. L. J. Liesenier has returned f rom Chicago. Rev. E. E. Kelly was in Detroit yesterday. Miss Cornelia Koch is visiting ia Lansing. S. Barlett Wiley, of Lansing, is in the city. Simon Dieterle is in Detroit for a few days. Mrs. Baur and daughters were at Bay Port. Dr. R. Bartow, of Butte, Mont., is in the city. J. J. Quarry has returned from a trip to Canada. Miss Rosalie Krause is visiting Toledo fnends. Rev. Neumann and family are visiting at Romeo. Miss Kate Dolan, of Lansing, is visiting in the city. Gilford MrFarland has returned from a week at Whitmore. Mrs. J. W. Rogers and daughter, Ella, are visiting in Stockbridge. Mrs. George Halier and Miss Francis Goedecke are visiting in Toledo. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Matschel and son, left yesterday for Grand Ledge. President and Mrs. J. B. Angelí, are on a trip to Georgian Bay and the Soo. G. W. Marvin, one of the business hustlers of Adrián, was in the city yesterday. John W. Goodspeed has returned from the north. Mrs. Goodspeed is still at Clarkston. Mrs. G. W. Fatterson and children are guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Rowley, of Adrián. Mr. D. M. Taylor left Wednesday, for Crystal lake, Benzie county, for a stay of several weeks. Dr. Vaughan, owing to the serious illness of his little child, has abandoned his intended European tour. This evening a reception will be given Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Moore, at the Second Baptist church, from 8 to ii. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McGee are visiting this week at Mr. McGee's parents', Jude and Mrs. McGee, of Jackson. Mrs. George Wahr returned Wednesday from Star Island, St. Clair Flats. She will return soon for a longer stay. Otto Behr and family, of Detroit, and Titus Hutzel and family. are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chase Dow, at Zukey lake. Dr. F. M. Fasquelle, formerly of Ann Arbor, has been appointed one of the board of examining surgeons, at Mt. Pleasant. Prof. Austin Scott. of Rutgers College, and family, are spending the summer at the homestead on ' Washtenaw avenue. At the national convention of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity held at Niágara Falls, Tuesday, Junius E. Beal was chosen president. County Treasurer Carlton, of Wayne county, was in the city Tuesdav. and was a spectator at the publican county convention. E. E. Calkins and H. F. Frost are home from a Whitmore Lake whaling voyage. They brought home considerable "blubber." Cashier Belser, of the Farmers' & Mechanics' bank, now includes among his assets, as personal property, - well, to come to the point it's a boy. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Besimer and Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Hangsterfer left Monday evening to spend acouple of weeks at their club house at Strawberry lake. A letter received by Mrs. George Wahr, yesterday, from her husband, notes his arrival in London, his good health and thorough enjoyment of his trip up to date. Smith, of Adrián, was a brief caller in Ann Arbor, Tuesday. He favors Maj. Seymour Howell, a popular Adrián banker, for state treasurer. on the republican ticket. Mrs. C. E. Green, of N. North Main street, accompanied by her household pet, Roy, left on.Wednesday evening for Independence lake, where she will enjoy liberty and an allopathic dose of recreation for a week or more. Editor J. O. Thompson, of the Dexter Leader, was in the city, Tuesday, and favored the Argus with a brotherly cali. Mr. Thompson is an industrious, discriminating news-gatherer, and gives his subscribers a live, readable paper.
