Chicago, July 28.- The Chemical National bauk failure is now producing a court sensation. A bilí has been filed in the circuit court by Reeeiver Elie C. Tourtelot, in whicli serious charges ara made against Joseph O. Curry, the fornier president of the baük. The reeeiver claims that by au expert examination of the books of the deiunct bauk it has been discovered that the president was practically responsible for itg collapse. It is charged direct that Curry appropriated to his own use niany thousand dollars of tne bank's funds, aud that by grossly loose management aud lack of judgment in the matter of making loans he lost over $200,000. The bill prays that Curry be compelled to account to the receiver for the money he has used and be held responsible tor the loss of several hundred thousand dollars in bank loans. A further charge is made tbat the deiendants violated a statutory provisión prohibiting the loaning to any one concern more than 10 per cent. of the paid-up capital stock of the bauk.
