Ann Arbor is to enjoy a rare treat in the appearance of Innes' famous New York band at the opera house on Saturday afternoon and evening. Innes has been producing successful novelties every yearsince he started out on his most brilliant career as a band-master, but his new composition, "War and Peace," has caught the popular taste instantaneously. This grand historical musical spectacle has turned away tens of thousands during Innes' present tour, so great has been the curiosity to see and hear it. The Williamsport (Pa.) Sun says of a recera presentation of this novel work: The fame of the band had preceded it, but the opiniĆ³n of our own people after hearing them, spread over the city, and Innes owned the town ere evening. The evening concert was a series of triumphs for not only the band, but all the participants. The first numbers brought out the abilities of the players and showed the excellent instrumentation of the band in the beautiful orchestral effects, resulting from the careful watching of Innes' masterful leading. The event of the evening was the historical number, which required many participants and was given in a masterful rnanner that aroused cheers and applauses of the multitude. Midst the roar of the cannon, and volley after volley of the musketry the solemn music of the band was heard, and the spectacle to the eye, and sound to the ear, was one that will be ever remembered by all j present.
