Washington, Nov. 8.- The agricultural department has issued a statement showIng that during the storm of Sept. 24 to 29 1,089 véasela, val ned at $17,100,000, and In the storm of Oct. 8 to 10 1,216 vessels, valued at $19,138,000, remained i n port on the Atlantic and jiulf ooasts, secure f rom danger throughout thc perioda for whioh wai-nings were issued by tho weather bureau. Tliis makea a total oí 2,305 I selr, valued at ?:,283,0Ü0, a largo ' portion oí wliich probably would havo gonc out but íor the warnings. Keports from the región traversed by the storm give tlie warnings credit for saving anumber of Uves, one station alone, Charleston, reporting ovor 100 Uves probably saved by tin.s means.
