The first of the Choral Union series took place last evening, and to Prof. Stanley and all othersinterested in the grand series of entertainments provided by the Union, the result must have been extremely gratifying. The orchestra numbered a musical force of sixty-two. It is needless to waste space in praise of the performance. It is enough to state that it was fully equal to the very best ever given in University hall, under the direction of the famed leader. The audience numbered about 2,500, and the financial receipts were, therefore, very handsome.
