San Francisco, Deo. ü.- Disloyalty to tho University of California, of which he liad until recently beon an under-graduate, was the reuson given for the hazing of Claude G. Campbell, son of a Methodist minister at Los Angeles, by his follow students. Camphell's offense consisted tn wonring tile Stanford colora and jeoring at the University of California because of its defeat by Stanford in the football match on Thanksgiving day. Ho is also accused of having given inside int'ormation of the condición and táctica of hia university team to the otposiug players. Campbell was caught after midnight on his way to his quarters, soized, and blindfoided. Wifh a dull razor the students shaved one side of his lioad and cut off his eyebrows and eyelushes? His he;ul was dauhed witli iiid ink, Htanford's colors having boen worked into his surviviug locks with muollage. ün one cheek was a red "S" íor Stanford, On the other a "T" for traitor. He was stripped and his body cuvered with the same letters. Campbell is a alende r cripple, and explains that lie was a formar Stanford student, intending to ívturn to that university in January. The faoulty will consider the casa ou its merits.
