PüBBY, O. T„ Jan. 2i.- A horas wliipping in church, participated m by ministers' wives, in thethe muidle of services, is tho sensation of a country church and almost led to a riot. Soine months ago Rev. Dr. Johnson, of Kansas, succeoded the Rev. Tully, being called by a facticm antagonistic to tho latter. Rev. Tully continucd with the church in the capacity oí deaoon. A few riunduys ago tho deacons wore severely criticised by tho new pastor. Tully íeit the sting and declared he would avengo lt. He wrote, it is saíd, to the oíd borne of Dr. Johnson, and reeeived some Information that reflected on tho minister, and especial ly his wife. At the close of the doctor's sermón on the niglit of the row Tully read the letter, and great commotion f olio wed. Mis. Johnson slipped from the churcli unnotioed, and soon returned with a buggy svhip In her hand. Rushing at tlie Rev. Tull.v nhe adminlstered a severo lashing beforu the astouished parishiouers. Tully was badly beaten up. In the general row tliat followed his wife secutad the whip and began to apply it to her husband's assailant. Wlien linally pulled off Mrs. Johnson was unconscious. Tho two romen and several of the brothorn were arrostod and have sinco been iined.
